Windwood Chronicles Chapter 13
August 1st , 1920 Penzance Cemetery, Penzance, Cornwall, England
It's a well known fact that Fate, Nature and Luck are all women. It is also a likewise well known fact that they will conspire at times to make an already bad situation worse, especially where men are concerned. A man named Murphy, intimately familiar with these facts wrote a rather famous law based on it.
This was the case as Finn and the assembled villagers stood in the pouring rain and howling winds. As Finn stood up from inspecting the ruined trap that he had so carefully set by the cemetery entrance a cry from within drew their attentions. He took off at run, his joints

Discoveries on a Wet Night
August 1st, 1920, Windwood Manor, Penzance, England
Finn paced back and forth in front of the bar, clearly agitated. He had barely dressed since the girl had disappeared from his bedroom less than an hour before. He wore his trousers and suspenders pulled up over an un-tucked shirt of plain yellow cotton. He was barefoot and with every other step the dull clunk of metal as his uncovered mechanical limb struck the stone floor. As he listened to Anna finish her story his scowl deepened noticeably.
Anna sat at a table, wearing the same stained white surgical dress and smock from the night before. Her hair was a tang

A breeze blew over the moat and through the courtyard. It carried the scent of rain and wet earth with it. It breezed up the wall and slammed the shutters of the window that overlooked the courtyard from above the doorway. The shattered stillness was not enough to wake Finn from his feverish slumber. He lay on his bed beneath the sheet, soaked in a cold sweat. His hands clenched the covers tightly and his head shook back and forth furtively. He was clearly in the midst of some terrible dream.
She looked down at him curiously. Clearly he was human and yet, like her he wa

Anna's New Life
July 29th, Windwood Manor, Penzance, England
It started with an idea.
She had first had the idea long ago while listening to a lecture from a visiting professor in the field of alchemy, Dr. Henry Clerval. It was nineteen-sixteen and she had just started her second year at Oxford. Looking back now it seemed so long ago, though it was only a mere four years prior. That lecture had changed her life forever like nothing had before.
Dr. Henry Clerval was a noted chemist and medical physician who was a boyhood friend of the late Dr. Victor Frankenstein. Since the death of Frankenstein, Clerval had tried to recreate and expound

Once more into the Breach
October 10th, 1914 2423 hours, Imperial German Occupied Antwerp, Belgium
"Tell me everything you know." Sergeant Finnegan stood over the lanky form of Corporal Gus Caulfield, the final member of their team. The rest of the men stood arrayed around and behind Finn looking on as their quartermaster swallowed another mouthful of the stew. He had already finished off one helmet full of food, but seemed fully intent on consuming as much as possible. The men had long since realized that he was a bottomless pit.
Around mouthfuls of food he pointed out various spots on the map and gave them his report.

Storm Clouds
July 29th, 1920 Windwood Manor, Penzance, England
A storm was brewing.
Finn looked out from the courtyard towards the ocean. Dark storm clouds were gathering far out to sea. He could almost smell it on the air. He'd seen storms like this before, and they never had anything good to provide. He shuddered involuntarily as past memories, long dormant, rose in his mind. Bad days from years gone by.
He took Drifter by the reins and led him into the stall and removed the saddle. After seeing to Drifter's food and water supply he made his way to the house. He paused and took another look out over the horizon to the looming clouds.

July 31st, 1920, Windwood Manor, Penzance, England
The day was pleasantly warm. A cool breeze, replete with the scent of heather and sea salt. It whispered through the vale and up to the crest of a small rise on the side of the hill where a mounted figure stood. The breeze curled around Finn and down his cold, metallic arm, gleaming dully in the reddish light of the setting sun. It flowed down and Drifter's nostrils flared as he took in the scents. He and Finn both detected what others wouldn't on the air; fear and anger.
He hesitated only a moment and then gave Drifter a kick and the two of them launched down the hill, gai

A New Friend
July, 1920 Windwood Manor, Penzance, England
The weeks passed at Windwood manor and bit by bit small changes were made. Finn and T.T. became fast friends. They worked many hours every day fixing up the manor house bit by bit. Leaks were fixed and windows made tight against rain and wind. Finn even managed to get sheets of tin made and began work on re-roofing the dilapidated chapel and making it more habitable.
He saw more of Anna as time passed and they came to understand one another. He respected her intellect and accomplishments. She was a brilliant physician and, as it turned out, quite capable of properly interacting wi

My name's Bill and I am both a HUGE Steampunk fan (note the capital "S") and an aspiring writer. That being said I have NO problem giving myself a shameless plug here. My Steampunk story is my way of trying to both improve my writing skills and style as well as to create something of note in the Steampunk community. Ultimately I would like to see my stories converted into a web comic and I'm always willing to hear people out who are interested in helping with this and I'm absolutely willing to work WITH an artist, not just rattle out a story and then wait for them to meet my expectations. Until that happens I'll just continue writing my stories and become a better writer. I hope ya'll enjoy my stories and I welcome all critisim to help me improve.
Thanx ya'll, Bill the Steampunk Redneck
